Keyword: dairy free milk, oat milk, vegan milk
- 2 cups rolled oats I used Bob's Red Mill Gluten Free Oats
- 8 cups water
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 3 whole pitted dates or 3 tablespoons pure maple syrup optional for sweetness
- For chocolate oat milk: add ¼ cup cacao powder
Add all of the ingredients to a high speed blender. Cover with lid and blend on high speed for 45 seconds to 1 minute and 30 seconds, being careful not to over-blend or oat milk could start to form a slimy texture.
To separate the milk from the pulp, place a More Than A Nut Milk Bag over a large glass measuring bowl. Pour the oat milk mixture into the bowl through the bag, squeezing the mixture through the bag so all of the liquid and pulp is separated. Compost the pulp or reserve it to use in cookies or pancakes
Serve at room temperature or chilled. Hot oat milk may become thick and slimy when heated. Store in the refrigerator for up to 5 days in a sealed glass jar. Oat milk naturally separates so shake well before serving.
