I was diagnosed with PCOS around this time last year. In an effort to try and reverse my symptoms naturally I decided to reduce my caffeine intake and cut out coffee cold turkey. Let me tell you, it was HARD.

Then I discovered iced matcha lattes and my mornings changed.

Is there caffeine in matcha?

There is caffeine in matcha but it’s less than the amount in coffee. In addition, the caffeine in match is a slow release so you don’t get jittery or get a large jolt and it also goes away slowly so you don’t get a crash later. It’s great!

What does iced matcha taste like?

Iced matcha has an earthy flavor that can be sharp at times then you’re left with a sweeter after-taste. This iced matcha latte recipe is made with a dairy free milk so that will make a difference in terms of what your latte tastes like.

I like to make my iced matcha latte with homemade oat milk so it has an even sweeter taste. All milk flavors are great in this!

Is iced matcha good for you?

Yes, matcha is great for you, especially in latte form! Some of the benefits include:

  • Boosts metabolism to help burn calories
  • Calms the mind
  • Packed with antioxidants
  • Rich in fiber and vitamins
  • Great alternative to coffee if you’re trying to reduce your caffeine intake because it has about 1/4 of the caffeine and lasts 4-6 hours, making it much better for adrenal health.

Is matcha tea better hot or cold?

The temperature of your matcha is really up to whoever is drinking it! They’re both delicious, but I prefer mine over ice, especially with oat milk. But if you love hot drinks, especially in the winter it’s a great drink to warm up.

How to make this iced matcha latte a hot drink: Heat the milk in the microwave or over the stove before adding it to the blender. You can also add 1 tablespoon of grass fed butter or ghee and MCT oil to make it bulletproof.

Do you sweeten matcha tea?

Matcha tea has a bit of a sweet aftertaste already, but I like to add a bit of sweetness to my matcha lattes when I’m drinking them in the morning. This recipe is customizable so you can add as little or as much sweetness as you want. I prefer just a little sweetness. Honey and maple syrup are great sweetener option!

I tried this recipe for my husband and I. It was really good, but I used unsweetened almond milk and swapped maple syrup with raw unfiltered honey. I thought it would be an either-or thing, but it wasn’t quite as good. Perhaps it was the amount of honey I used? Either way, thank you so much for having such varied recipes that also cover drinks! I bought your book and love having it in the kitchen as I navigate PCOS for the first time. ♡

I’ve been searching for a coffee alternative. This might be it for me.
I’ve had it at coffee shops but I never thought I could make it so easily at home.
