Smooth, creamy and nutty Amaretto Hot Chocolate that warms your soul.

homemade-hot-chocolateIn the winter, homemade hot chocolate takes over my life. There is no fighting it - the snow is falling, the fire is crackling and I'm sipping this delicious Crock Pot Amaretto Hot Chocolate. When it comes to comforting sweet drinks on a cold night, there is no beating a large mug of hot chocolate.

homemade-hot-chocolateThis recipe is so simple. You dump all of the ingredients in the crock pot, stir and let it all get very happy for two hours. This stuff is the real deal. No extras or crazy ingredients. Just a little almond extract to add some depth. I've been crazy obsessed with almond the last couple of months. Hence the almond shortbread cookies and homemade almond buttercream. The nutty flavor is a simple addition that takes this cocoa to the next level.

homemade-hot-chocolateThe first rich, creamy sip goes down smooth and the nutty aftertaste is slightly sweet and so comforting. Powdered mix ain't got nothin' on this gourmet tasting mug of heaven.

The greatest part is there is nothing gourmet about making it. It's so easy! You just mix these six ingredients in the slow cooker:

    1. milk
    2. heavy cream
    3. sweetened condensed milk
    4. chocolate chips
    5. almond extract
    6. vanilla extract

homemade-hot-chocolate You turn it on low and stir ever fifteen minutes for two hours. The result is a creamy, nutty and decadent mug of hot chocolate. Perfect for topping with whipped cream, marshmallows or chocolate syrup!
